12-year-old David started a reading club that transformed literacy rates in his rural community.
When David received his first set of books through WeShare's educational materials program, he couldn't contain his excitement. Growing up in a village where most adults couldn't read, books were a rare treasure. What David did next would surprise everyone.
Instead of keeping his books to himself, 12-year-old David started inviting other children to his home after school. What began as informal story-telling sessions quickly grew into a structured reading club with over 30 regular participants.
"I noticed that many of my friends struggled with reading," David explains. "I thought, if I can help them enjoy books the way I do, maybe they'll love learning too."
The reading club attracted an unexpected audience—adults. Parents who came to pick up their children began staying to listen. Some admitted they had never learned to read. David, with wisdom beyond his years, welcomed them.
"Age doesn't matter," he says simply. "Everyone deserves to read."
Two years later, the reading club has evolved into a community learning center supported by WeShare Charity. The impact has been profound:
"I want to become a teacher," David shares. "Not just for a classroom, but for my whole community. Education changes everything. When you can read, the whole world opens up."
WeShare Charity has committed to sponsoring David's education through university, ensuring this young leader can fulfill his remarkable potential.
